Now that spring has arrived, it’s a great time to make sure your home is ready for what the new season has to offer! Follow these tips from our Spring Maintenance Checklist:
-Check to ensure your Air Conditioner is working properly. Be sure the breaker is turned on and thermostat is turned to ‘A/C’. Be sure to remove any winter A/C covers if used. (As always recommended, be sure to change your furnace filters on a regular basis).
-Test out all hose bibbs to make sure they are working properly. If you left anything plugged into them over the winter time, you should watch for leaks in your basement when you turn the faucet on for the first time as any leaks you might have due to winter temperatures would be visible there first.
-Aerate and reseed bares spots in your lawn now. Take advantage of the spring for germination to build a lush lawn! Apply the first step of fertilizer now.
-Remove debris (leaves, papers, etc.) from your gutters and downspout extensions to prevent them from clogging during the heavy spring rains! Putting a hose in your downspouts for just a few minutes can clear any debris that might have fallen into them.
-Check to ensure exterior caulking is intact (re-caulk any gaps or cracks if necessary).
-Fill Low areas in the yard or next to the foundation should be filled with compacted soil.
-From the ground, examine roof shingles to see if any were lost or damaged during the winter.
